Homemade Donuts

We finally opened up the deep fryer we got for Christmas.  One of the things I had been looking forward to was homemade donuts.  The didn't turn out as good as I had hoped but I plan on trying some other recipes soon.

The GREAT Circus Parade

We went to the Great Circus Parade.  The parade has been here some years and other years there is no budget for it.  They say that this may be the last one to ever be here.  The city just doesn't have a budget to put on this parade.  It's a shame because this parade is really fun.

The kids were the perfect age to really appreciate it.  People claimed their spots and stayed there for days before the parade.  We got really lucky and found parking and a place to sit pretty easily.

Before the parade started the kids all made "poop" circles in the street.  The idea is to see if a horse will poop in your circle.  One group near us even had a pool going.  If you picked the right numbered circle you won the money they collected and if noone one, the funds would go to help the parade budget.

The girls waited eagerly for the parade to start.  While waiting they made friends with the other kids around us and J was making chalk drawings for a police officer that was stationed right next to where we were sitting.

The police motorcycles signaled the beginning of the parade.

J's favorite part of the parade were the clowns.  Some said they weren't allowed to touch anyone but J didn't let that stop her.  It seemed her goal was to get every clown to give her a high-five.  She would scream across the whole street "Hey CLOWN, over here!"  She was so loud.  The other spectators were impressed with her enthusiasm.  I was worried that she was being too loud but a lot of other people were egging her on.  They all said, that the parade is all about kids just like her.

A liked seeing the wagons with the animals.  She was just worried that the poop coming from the horses was too smelly.

When the parade was over we were all very very hot and couldn't wait to go home to cool off.  It was a great day and we ALL had a TON of fun.

No circus but beachy fun

We were going to take the girls to the cirrus ground today but it was packed.  There was no parking to be found anywhere.  We hated to disappoint them but we knew we would be going to the circus parade in a few days so they had to miss out on this fun.  Instead we went to play at the lake front for a little while.  They enjoyed finding rocks and throwing them into the water.

Afterwards we took a drive down Lake Drive and went for their first visit to "The Witch's House".

4th of July celebrations

We went to Lake Lenwood again this year.  The girls spent all of their time either in the water or on the beach.  It was nice that since they are getting older they can play by themselves and we can relax a bit ourselves.  We didn't get anymore pictures except this one.

In the evening we went to the fireworks at Hart park.  J liked that she was able to see some of her classmates with their families.

Anything can be a toy

The girls went to Grandma's house and got to play at the park.  J found these things from someone's cap gun.  They were already used up but J thought they would be fun to play with.  She had enough for all of her fingers.  They didn't last long because we started to find them all over the house.
