Since they weren't able to go over earlier in the week, the girls were given the chance to sleep over at their Dad's. The jumped at the chance. Since it was just me for dinner I went to the new Jimmy John's that opened just up the road.
It was snowing tonight so the roads were pretty slick. I just couldn't believe how bad the driver's were. I know it was snowing but driving 15 mph is more dangerous that what was necessary for the little amount of snow we were getting.

Polar Express in 3-D
This whole Christmas season the girls have been asking to watch Polar Express. We kept forgetting about it or else they would ask at a bad time. Tonight I let them watch it. They even wanted to try the 3-D version.
They didn't care much for the 3-D and started complaining about the glasses about half way through. However, they did make it through the whole movie in 3-D even though I offered to switch it to the regular version.

Stories and fun pancakes
Today was another rough one. Someone has been struggling with her behavior. Either she is just having a hard time with the adjustment back to school after Christmas break or she is going through a growth spurt or something that is really making her have a hard time controlling herself. Anyway, we are working on it. She set some goals for herself yesterday and worked really hard on them today. There will be lots of little reminders to help her along.
The girls were maybe going to go to their Daddy's house tonight but it's kind of hard to make that work during the week. I wasn't the favorite mom because I said I didn't think it was a good idea. Jazmine was disappointed because she had brought home this story she had written. She is really excited to get to show her Daddy because it's all about them opening their presents from him on Christmas Day. It's really cute. I did remind her that she will have other opportunities to show him the story and I am sure she will take it right over to him when she brings it back from school.
To try and make it up to them I made fun pancakes for dinner. If you look really close you may see that they were colored green. They also have sprinkles added on the side you can't see. They even asked if they could eat them differently so instead of cutting them up they were able to "rip and dip" them.

Magna-doodles
Today was pretty rough. There were some outbursts and a tired little girl. I did everything in my power to get everything under control but didn't get very far. I sent the kids to their room for a while. They cleaned up and then got really quiet. When I went to check on them, this was what I found.
Sometimes it's a bad sign when you don't hear anything out of them for a while but this wasn't so bad. Their magna-doodles have always been their favorite toys. They can draw and write for long periods of time. It's been fun to see how they have improved in both their drawing and writing skills.

This little piggie
Tonight the girls and I played the Wii. It's been such a hit in our house. Jazmine really likes the cycling game. She thinks it's cool since she can control the player with the remote and nunchuck.
At bed time, while each of the girls were taking their turn brushing their teeth, I was doing "this little piggie went to market" and the girls were cracking up. Do they ever out grow that? We had a good time just playing together and having a bit of a tickle fest. When I went to snap a picture of their feet then ended up have a foot fight and lots more laughter.

I'll spare you the pictures Jazmine took of my ugly feet. LOL!

Donuts, Princesses and Easy Bake Cakes
Since today is Sunday we had a special breakfast. We used to have pancakes and sometimes when I am ambitious I will go all out with eggs, bacon, pancakes and any other special requests. But the girls favorite "special" breakfast has become muffins or donuts.
In the afternoon the girls wanted to try out Ali's new game. She got it for Christmas and it's called Pretty Pretty Princess. It comes with a full set of jewelry for all the players. Ali beat me and Jazmine so she got to have her picture showing off the jewels and crown.
Ali also got an easy bake oven for Christmas. She couldn't wait to try it out but she had to wait for us to get the right wattage light bulb. I surprised her with light bulbs when I came home from the grocery store. I also bought a boxed cake mix so we didn't have to eat the cardboard cakes that come with the oven. It worked pretty well except that I could have baked a whole cake in a lot less time then it took to make these 4 little cakes. 15 minutes baking time each and you can only do one at a time. ??? They didn't even taste very good. (Un)fortunately the kids lost interest pretty fast. The did like the mixing and then decorating after their hour long wait.
It was a pretty nice relaxing day.

Our anniversary
Today was relatively quiet. It was our 11th anniversary today. We thought it was pretty cool because this year it was 11 years. It's 11 years on 1/1/11. Isn't that kind of neat? Anyway, I ended up with a sickening headache and then thought I was getting the flu. I ended up sleeping for a long while and the day was kind of ruined. We don't normally do much to celebrate the day anyhow so other than being sick it wasn't too bad.
We also don't exchange gifts but I did get these pretty pink roses from Richard.
